5BC: Boy in the Tower

by Polly Ho-Yen

The book is about a boy named Ade who lives in a high-rise block in South London. When mysterious plant-like creatures called Bluchers begin destroying buildings, most residents flee, but Ade stays behind to care for his agoraphobic mother. As the city becomes desolate and dangerous, Ade must find ways to survive and protect those he cares about. The story explores themes of resilience, community, and hope in the face of adversity.

Lawi - "I love this story because the two main characters, Ade and Gaia, are very intriguing. I think that the Bluchers are going to destroy all the buildings around Ade's tower until his is the only one left in the town."

Liya - "I am hooked on the story and I want to find out what happens next. I think Ade's mum will become to ill to look after him and he will have to move in with Michael. Then, Ade, Michael and Gaia will have secret conversations about the Bluchers and how they can stop them."

Rosie - "I like The Boy In The Tower because it is very interesting and I am eager to find out what is going to happen next in DEAR time."
